About Our Church

In 1893, three women interested in Christian Science began holding services in Crystal Lake. As time went on, others became interested and joined in the meetings which were held in various homes.
Over the years, this group grew in number becoming first a Christian Science Society in 1919, and then First Church of Christ, Scientist, Crystal Lake in 1948. Ground was broken on the current building, 431 Woodstock Street, in April, 1973. The first church service and Sunday school exercises were held September 16, 1973.
Today, both church services and Sunday School exercises are held Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. The Wednesday evening meeting is held at 7:30 p.m.
Sunday Morning Services – 10:30 am to 11:30 am
Sunday services provide an atmosphere for prayer and for listening to a Bible lesson-sermon that promotes healing. This lesson can be found in the Christian Science Quarterly or on the website for The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientists in Boston, Massachusetts, www.christianscience.com
Wednesday Evening Meetings – 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
On Wednesday nights, we hold public meetings at which you will hear readings from the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures written by Mary Baker Eddy. These readings speak to an issue of current interest in the community. You will also hear from members of the congregation how a growing understanding of God enables them to heal every type of human challenge.
Sunday School – 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Children and young people up to age 20 are invited to attend our Sunday School, where they are taught how to apply the truths of the Bible and the Christian Science textbook to their daily lives.
